The Gospel of the Grove
A Novel of Ancestral Memory, Spiritual Deception, and Sacred Reckoning
Some truths are buried in silence. Others are rooted in the grove.
In The Gospel of the Grove, Chiedu Ndubisi weaves a richly layered novel of ancestral echoes and spiritual confrontation. Set in the ancient town of Igboukwu, Nigeria, the story follows Ifeanyi, a reluctant prophet plagued by visions; Amaka, a skeptical archaeologist drawn to a sacred grove; and Nnamdi, a charismatic preacher whose miracles veil a deeper deception.
As the past bleeds into the present, the characters are pulled into a forgotten vow made beneath the sacred Ikenga trees—where indigenous spirituality once flourished before colonial disruption. Now, with the town caught in a battle between modern faith and ancestral truth, each must decide what to preserve, what to expose, and what to sacrifice.
Exploring themes of memory, belief, spiritual power, and historical erasure, The Gospel of the Grove is a haunting and luminous tale of reckoning in a place where the forest remembers everything.
